Modeling Analysis of Groundwater Contamination Yields Reliable, Accurate Data

portfolio typeCase HistoriesPosted on July 30, 2013

Mundell personnel performed advanced one- and two-dimensional analytical and numerical modeling of the groundwater at a former wood treatment plant. The calculations and results based on these analyses provided our client with the technical basis to assess whether or not the releases from the wood treatment plant were sudden and accidental results crucial in setting pollution insurance claims……Read More »

Remediation of Chlorinated Solvents via CAP-18 Injection

portfolio typeCase HistoriesPosted on June 29, 2013

Investigation at Chlorinated Solvent Site

Mundell effectively confirmed an on-site source at the Michigan Plaza site and fully delineated chemical impacts to soil and groundwater from past site operations. Injection of CAP-18, a soybean oil bioremediation product, was chosen as the best remedial option. Within three months of the injection events, reductive dechlorination responses were evident at monitoring wells immediately down gradient of the injection locations. Over time, this same response has been observed moving further downgradient across the site……Read More »

Geophysical Search for Buried Waste at an Industrial Facility

portfolio typeCase HistoriesPosted on June 27, 2013

Conductivity map and resistivity lines at buried waste

In the past, unknown quantities of waste materials related to plant production were buried across an active industrial site in western Indiana. Mundell used electromagnetic (EM) geophysical methods to locate the areas containing buried waste materials across four (4) areas of concern. …..Read More »

Subsurface Site Characterization Using Downhole Logging Tools

portfolio typeCase HistoriesPosted on June 26, 2013

Downhole Log

Mundell was contacted to address data deficiencies related to well construction details for a series of existing monitoring wells. This data included geologic information about select monitoring wells using borehole geophysical logging, horizontal and vertical survey data for each monitoring well and hydraulic conductivity of select wells using slug and bail testing. Upon completion of the survey, it became apparent that not only was information lacking from the previous report, but information regarding the construction of certain wells was incorrect……Read More »

Check Your Heating Ducts

To ensure that as much warm air as possible is delivered through your central system, check the ductwork and wrap any leaks with duct mastic. Distribution losses (what’s lost while air is transported from your furnace through ductwork to the vents) often amounts to 30%. So, sealing ductwork could increase efficiency and the warm air you receive considerably … keeping you warmer and making your furnace work less.
