Thermal Source Area Remediation at a Former Industrial Facility

portfolio typeCase HistoriesPosted on January 4, 2016

Mundell was retained to provide consulting services at a former electronics manufacturing facility in Seymour, Indiana which had been subject to several phase of environmental investigation. Mundell completed the treatment of 1,272 tons of cVOC-impacted soil during fifteen (15) days of operation using a thermal desorption process. The treatment was a success from both a cost and technical standpoint, achieving over 99% treatment effectiveness and saving our client up to $600,000 in hazardous material disposal fees……Read More »

Geophysical and Environmental Investigation Synthesis to Delineate Dual BTEX and MTBE Plume Migration via Preferential Channels

portfolio typeCase HistoriesPosted on December 20, 2015

Mundell used in-house geophysical investigation results to design an environmental sampling strategy for efficient and cost effective delineation of two distinct plumes of dissolved petroleum constituents at a retail fuel station. Achieving delineation enabled prioritization for remediation and the implementation of soil vapor extraction system to address source area impacts. …..Read More »

Mundell was contracted to remediate a former manufactured gas plant (MGP) located in a residential neighborhood in Franklin, IN. Following the house move, basement reconstruction, and excavation/disposal of approximately 12,271.41 tons of impacted soil, the site was fully restored. As part of the ongoing monitoring plan, a groundwater monitoring network has been sampled quarterly to verify the success of the removal action. The site is expected to receive full closure following eight quarters of post-remediation groundwater monitoring……Read More »

Former Salt Storage Site: Geophysical and Environmental Investigation to Delineate a Chloride Plume Impacting Public Drinking Water Supply Wells

portfolio typeCase HistoriesPosted on December 1, 2015

Using geophysical conductivity and resistivity surveys, Mundell successfully delineated down-gradient groundwater impacts both vertically and laterally at a former salt storage area. Sampling will provide information on attenuation of chloride concentrations over time and also with distance from the source area. The detailed and accurate delineation will inform the selection of a remedial strategy and allow decision makers to estimate a future date that the former public supply wells may be brought back into production……Read More »

Check Your Heating Ducts

To ensure that as much warm air as possible is delivered through your central system, check the ductwork and wrap any leaks with duct mastic. Distribution losses (what’s lost while air is transported from your furnace through ductwork to the vents) often amounts to 30%. So, sealing ductwork could increase efficiency and the warm air you receive considerably … keeping you warmer and making your furnace work less.
