Energy

From implementing clean energy solutions to cleaning up energy production residuals, the environmental impact of energy operations can be both positive and detrimental to our earth.

Mundell & Associates personnel rely on their multidisciplinary breadth of knowledge and the latest in geophysical imaging techniques to identify and characterize sites for solar, wind, and geothermal energy development. Ensuring these systems are planned and installed properly will create new energy solutions that benefit both communities and the earth.

As we transition to a more sustainable future, we also need to address the environmental impacts of older energy solutions. Energy production residuals and products such as coal tar and coal tar sludges, coke, cinders, creosote, or petroleum hydrocarbon-containing wastewaters can be released from sites such as coal-burning facilities, manufactured gas plants, tar plants, wood-preserving facilities, bulk oil production and storage, and chemical manufacturing sites.

Mundell & Associates personnel rely on their experience with hydrogeologic and aquifer assessment, multicomponent geochemistry, and model development to assess the impact of chemical releases, design chemical capture and treatment systems, and perform exposure assessment simulations for potential chemical pathways.

Celebrate Biodiversity

Approximately 33% of the food consumed by humans is dependent, either directly or indirectly, on honey bee pollination. Here are a few steps you can take to help these important pollinators!

  • Keep beekeeping in your area viable by buying local honey.
  • Grow a variety of flowering plants in your garden and avoid using pesticides.
  • Learn the difference between honeybees and other flying insects such as wasps/yellow jackets to prevent the inadvertent use of deadly sprays.
