Mundell performed a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) over a tract of land in Benton County for a proposed wind energy conversion facility. This unique ESA included special ‘large-tract’ observation techniques and records searches. Results of the Phase I ESA allowed for the future development of the Benton County Wind Farm, with no significant environmental concerns observed that would hinder the proposed construction within this area……Read More »

Delineation of Impacts and Vapor Intrusion Mitigation Associated with a Former Dry Cleaner
Mundell was retained to provide consulting services at a former dry cleaner facility in Muncie, Indiana, where, despite several phases of subsurface investigation by other consultants, chlorinated volatile organic compound (cVOC) soil and groundwater impacts were not delineated on-site. Among the activities Mundell completed included collecting groundwater grab samples at on- and off-site Geoprobe™ soil boring locations to provide a semi-quantitative assessment of the relative distribution and concentration of downgradient cVOC impacts and completing a geophysical assessment to identify possible subsurface conduits. Mundell’s aggressive and thorough investigative actions over a one-year period provided a more concise and detailed understanding of the environmental issues associated with the site……Read More »
Proposed Trail Assessment – Madison Indiana
Mundell was retained to perform a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) of a proposed trail area in Madison, Indiana. Mundell recommended a further evaluation of the identified potential environmental concerns including direct push geoprobing to test subsurface soil and groundwater in the vicinity of the potential concerns……Read More »
Site Assessment at a Former Gasoline Station
Mundell used EM-61 metal detection in conjunction with localized ground penetrating radar to characterize metal objects beneath a former gas station site. In the end, a single, 3,000 gallon UST was located and determined to be the source of significant soil and groundwater impacts across the site. The use of geophysics on this project was crucial to its successful completion……Read More »
Human-Health Risk Assessment – U.S. Can Company
U.S. Can contracted with Mundell to perform a human-health risk assessment of existing residual soil and groundwater impacts at its facility in Burns Harbor, Indiana. As part of this work, Mundell completed an exposure assessment that modeled groundwater flow, contaminant transport and indoor air vapor intrusion, and predicted potential receptors of impacted groundwater moving offsite……Read More »
