Mundell & Associates personnel have been involved in the environmental assessment and remediation of dry cleaning sites since the mid-1980s.
Highly knowledgeable about the physical and chemical characteristics of typical dry cleaning chemicals including perchloroethylene (PCE) and its breakdown-by-products (i.e., trichloroethylene, dichloroethylene, and vinyl chloride), we have performed groundwater assessments and contaminant modeling of chlorinated solvent sites to achieve regulatory and financial acceptance at over 40 dry cleaning sites across the United States.
We design groundwater pump and treat systems, soil vapor extraction and groundwater air sparging treatment systems, perform in situ chemical oxidation of soils and groundwater, and have mapped the distribution of chlorinated solvents using geophysical and soil vapor surveys at known dry cleaner sites to achieve cleanup approvals, including the first Indiana Department of Environmental Management Voluntary Remediation Program approval of a Tier II risk assessment at a dry cleaning site.
