The Earth Cube’s New Home

The Earth Cube has a new home—in Italy!

Last week, Mundell & Associates President John Mundell and Julie Mundell traveled to Formia, Italy, for the unveiling of a new Earth Cube sculpture.

The sculpture in Formia, a town on Italy’s west coast that overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea, will serve as a lasting invitation to all to appreciate the beauty of nature, strengthen our connections with one another, and make choices that protect the environment.

At the inauguration, the mayor of Formia honored John as the creator of the Earth Cube and recognized him for his dedication as an engineer, visionary, and guardian of the Earth.

The Earth Cube is a tool used by Mundell and other organizations to inspire community members, in Indianapolis and all over the world, to help people see how everyone is connected to each other and to nature. The goal is to help people turn environmental awareness into concrete everyday actions. Translated into many languages, the Earth Cube offers daily motivation through six simple messages:

  • We Are All Connected
  • Discover Amazing Things
  • Everything Is a Gift
  • Smile on the World
  • Use Only What Is Needed
  • Now Is the Time to Act

The celebration in Formia brought together local civic and religious leaders, educators, students, Red Cross representatives, and community members around art, culture, education, and awareness of caring for the Earth, our common home.

We’re proud to see John’s commitment to environmental education and stewardship inspiring communities around the world.

Congratulations to the City of Formia, the Earth Cube Association (Il Dado della Terra), the Catholic Archdiocese of Gaeta, other local organizations, and the many students and community members who made this project possible.

Reduce Your Exposure to Lead

Although the US no longer adds lead to gasoline, many homes are still at risk for lead exposure. If your home was built before 1978, it may contain lead-based paint or water pipes with lead solder. In addition to contacting a qualified contractor to test for lead, here are some things everyone can do:

  • Don’t use glazed pottery to cook, serve, or store food (unless you know its lead-free)
  • Keep cosmetics out of children’s mouth
  • Replace old vinyl mini blinds
  • Don’t store liquid in lead crystal containers
