Climate Camp 2015 Sponsorships

We want to send you to Climate Camp!

This summer, Earth Charter Indiana, Youth Power Indiana, and HEART will hold “Climate Camp”, a day camp open to all 4th – 12th grade students who are passionate about a healthy environment, eager to live a more sustainable lifestyle and are interested in helping others care for the earth.

Mundell will sponsor local youth by covering the $50 camp fee. Applicants for the Mundell grant must apply online (see below) to be considered.

Camp Details

July 20 – 24th, 2015
9am – 5pm
Peace Learning Center @ Eagle Creek Park
(lunch and field trips included; transportation to camp is not)

What will we do?

Learn about our climate predicament along with sustainability solutions and civic action opportunities. Enjoy locally grown food, nature hikes, bike rides and make some new friends!

How do I apply for the $50 grant?

Visit the Climate Camp website to complete the application.

* Where the application says, I am applying for a financial grant to cover the $50 camp fee. click YES
* Where the application says, If applying for a financial grant, please list how much you can afford. write, “I am from Irvington and I am applying for a Mundell grant.”

Reduce Erosion and Preserve Topsoil

Land degradation has increased around the world as our human activities pollute or degrade the quality of soil, affecting not only food production but the overall ecosystems. What can we do locally to preserve our soil?

  • Rotate the crops you grow in your garden.
  • Use local mulch, especially in bare stops to help plants ground and prevent water runoff.
  • Plant large plants such as trees and hedges to reduce wind speed.
  • Minimize soil compaction by create permanent walkways and encouraging people to stay on them.
