As Groundwater Awareness Week begins on Sunday, we are happy to announce our status as an official groundwater protector recognized by the National Ground Water Association. Part of our work as engineers and scientists of the earth is to use innovative protocols and procedures to develop cost effective remediation (clean up) solutions for contaminated groundwater as well as monitor groundwater flow and the chemicals that are transported.
This year, we are participating in #GWAW with a series of blogs and social media posts (@MundellEarth) to raise awareness of the importance of responsible development, management, and use of groundwater and encourage water well testing and well maintenance.
Groundwater is used for so many things from drinking water to irrigation, livestock, manufacturing, mining, and thermoelectric power, making it one of the most widely used and valuable natural resources we have. We are especially excited about GWAW this year because of the THINK theme; as scientists and engineers we spend our days brainstorming new solutions and problem solving to improve the quality of our groundwater and protect it for the future. We encourage everyone to THINK of various ways we can protect our most valuable natural resource, even if something simple such as not running the water while you brush your teeth.
