For the past several years, Mundell & Associates has sponsored the Irvington Preparatory Academy’s Robotics Team. The team of high school students has been very successful, winning the prestigious Mayor Gregory A. Ballard Excellence Award at the 2016 Indianapolis Vex Robotics Championship and competing in the 2016 Vex World Championship!
This year, the students gathered on “Star Wars Day” with Mundell staff for an afternoon of learning and fun at the Mundell engineering design lab. The team presented Mundell with a plaque for “Ongoing Contribution to Inspiring Future Engineers.”
Mundell staff members Rondel Lattea, BJ Denning, and Andy Dammeryer demonstrated and discussed concepts of engineering design, control systems, equipment operation and maintenance, and groundwater sampling with the group of about 10 students.
The students in turn taught the staff a little about robotics with a fun demonstration of tasks they may do in a competition. Everyone enjoyed the afternoon and a delicious “May the 4th be with you!” treat!
