For the past 17 years, the American Geosciences Institute has promoted and organized this national and international event to to help the public gain a better understanding and appreciation for the Earth Sciences and to encourage stewardship of the Earth.
This year’s theme is “Our Shared Geoheritage”. Geoheritage is the collection of natural wonders, landforms, and resources that have formed over eons and come to this generation to manage, use, and conserve effectively. Geoheritage locations are valued for many reasons, including scientific, economic, ecological, educational, cultural, aesthetic, artistic, and recreational purposes.
