On a windy day this Saturday, November 5, 2019, scientists and engineers from Mundell & Associates won AND received the judge’s award at the 2nd Annual Indy Grimo Coffin Race in Irvington!
The ‘coffin’s theme was toxic waste avengers – cleaning up chemicals in the community as a nod to our work as an environmental firm. Team Captain Rondel Lattea and BJ Denning led the design of a metal frame with a 55 gallon drum and landscaping for the rider’s feet.
Eric, Forrest, Luke, and Ryan pushed Hayden and the cart 150 yards in a race to the finish in their tyvek safety suits! They beat out the inaugural champions from last year by 0.03 seconds with a winning time of 17.25 seconds in their first of two heats.
The judge’s award was based on team unity, theme and costumes, and cart design. Family and friends from Mundell came to cheer everyone on too!
Team leaders are already working on next year’s competition to include..well…something even more amazing!!
The Indy Grimo Coffin Race is part of the Irvington Halloween festival (was rained out this year to the following Saturday) and is a charitable event benefiting The Irvington Community Council, The Otterbein Neighborhood Association and The Pour House.
